Europe's Best Scenic Drives
Roads where the drive itself is the point. Here are the ones worth going out of your way for.
Some roads are just roads. Others make you pull over every few minutes because the view is too good to miss.
Here are Europe’s best.
Amalfi Coast, Italy
The famous one—and it lives up to the hype. Carved into cliffs above blue water, with colorful villages around every bend.
- How long: About 2-3 hours
- Best stops: Positano, Amalfi, Ravello
- The challenge: Hairpin turns and narrow lanes
This is a road you want someone else to drive. Seriously. If you’re behind the wheel, you’ll miss everything.
Costa Brava, Spain
Just north of Barcelona, the road from Tossa de Mar to Sant Feliu is stunning—tunnels, bridges, and hidden beaches.
- How long: 45 minutes to 2 hours (depending on stops)
- Best time: Early morning when it’s empty
- From Barcelona: Makes a perfect day trip
“Drive the Costa Brava once and you’ll want to come back.”
French Riviera
There are three roads between Nice and Monaco. The Grande Corniche is the high one—built by Napoleon, incredible views.
- How long: About an hour
- Best time: Sunset
- Must-see: The viewpoint above Monaco (Tête de Chien)

Why a Chauffeur Makes Sense
On roads like these, you want to look out the window, not at the road. Let someone who knows the route handle the driving while you enjoy the view.
That’s the whole point of a scenic drive, right?
